Accrington Academy’s magnificent seven impress at national talent competition

Accrington Academy’s dancers showed they had the moves when they took part in the YST Factor 2016 Talent Competition at Loughborough University on Tuesday (26th April).

Organised by the Youth Sport Trust, the event saw the academy’s six strong team of Georgia Welch, Alacey Webber, Samantha Howarth, Harleigh Middleton, Amy Whelan and Kelsey Smith as well as Academy’s solo dancer Sean Boulter, competing against other performers from across the country.

Judging the competition were former Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt, Bounce from Britains Got Talent Finalists Flawless and Lizzie Gough from CBBC show Alesha Dixon’s Street Stars.

Commenting on the girl’s dance moves, Bounce said:

“It is rare that we see street crews with so many female members pulling off tricks, especially the tricks you were doing and landing so well.”

Kimberley Wyatt also said of Sean:

“A beautiful dancer with lots and lots of potential. You feel the music and dance the music…it is real to you.”

A delighted Accrington Academy Principal Andy O’Brien said:

“It’s great to see our students not only taking part in this type of event, but also really making an impact.”
