The popularity of this event exploded this year with 23 teams taking part. For the first time, the event was a qualifier for the level three school games in the summer. Two parallel events were held with a developmental competition including lots of coaching and the chance to learn the game and a purely competitive event for schools that have played some hockey before.
The event was supported by Blackburn Northern Hockey club and proved to be a highly competitive affair with St Nicholas, Mount Pleasant and St Marys Langho A and B qualifying for the semi finals.
All teams played brilliantly but in the end it was Mount Pleasant and St Marys Langho A qualified for the final. These teams will each represent their respective district in the next round but St Marys Langho proved to be the stronger team on the day and won the overall competition.
