Students take to the kitchen to help raise funds for charity

A group of students from Accrington Academy put their baking skills to good use, when they raised over £150 from a cupcake day.

Held on Thursday 14th June, the event was organised in support of the Alzheimer’s society. Year 10 students supporting the initiative included:

*Georgia, Holly, Annie , Ella and Jack.

As well as raising funds, those taking part learnt about Alzheimer’s Disease during form time discussions as part of ‘The Big Question’.

Accrington Academy’s Head of School, Nicola Palmer commented:

“As part of our commitment to provide our students with an education with character, its important for them to have an understanding and appreciation of issues affecting members of the community and to actively support those less fortunate than themselves. Once again, our students have rose to the occasion. A big ‘well done’ and ‘thank you’ to all involved.”
