15 teams took part in the annual Hyndburn year 3&4 football competition hosted by Accrington Academy, a great opportunity for the younger pupils to represent their school football teams. Group A saw St Bartholomew’s B win all 3 games to finish on 9 points ahead of St Marys Oswaldtwistle on 6 points who also qualified and Peel Park A 3 points and St Anne & St Josephs A on 0 points. The winner of Group B were Huncoat Red on 9 points, Mount Pleasant also qualified on 6 points ahead of Peel Park B on 3 points and St John St Augustine on 0 points. Group C was extremely close with only 1 point separating 3 teams, however it was St Nicholas who won the group on 5 points with Huncoat Blue edging out Benjamin Hargreaves on goal difference after both teams finished on 4 points, Baxenden managed 2 points. Group D winners were St Anne & St Joseph’s B on 6 points and St Bartholomew’s A finished 2nd on 3 points.
Quarter final 1 saw St Bartholomew’s B beat Mount Pleasant 3-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw, Quarter Final 2 winners were Huncoat Red beating St Marys Oswaldtwistle 3-0 whilst in Quarter final 3 St Nicholas defeated St Bartholomew’s A 2-0, Quarter final 4 was won by Huncoat Blue 2-1 against St Anne & St Joseph’s B. The semi-final stages saw 2 really high quality games with Huncoat red beating St Bartholomew’s B 1-0 and St Nicholas beating Huncoat Blue 2-0. Onto the final which was once again a really close game with both teams creating chances however it was St Nicholas who converted one of their chances into a goal which saw them win the game 1-0. This was the same score line in the 3rd/4th place playoff game as St Bartholomew’s beat Huncoat Blue.
