The Academy is keen to encourage as many students as possible to continue their education beyond the age of 16.

Students already enrolled are entitled to transfer to the Sixth Form providing they meet the published standards for entry and minimum course entry requirements.

We also welcome students from outside the Academy, offering them the very highest standards of educational support in a friendly and supportive environment.
Applications for admission to the Academy have significantly increased and places on courses are competitive. Whilst we will do our best to give a place to you on your chosen course we recommend you apply early to avoid disappointment. If there is a situation where the Academy Sixth Form is oversubscribed applicants whose permanent address is closest will be admitted.
We invite you to see and experience the Academy for yourself at one of our special ‘Sixth Form’ open evenings and experience ‘A Day in the Life of a Sixth former’ in our Year 11 taster day held in July. Come and meet our staff and students, see our facilities and find out which courses are best suited for you.

Bailey is currently studying A-Levels in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry after achieving top grades in his GCSE’s at Accrington Academy, “this was because the teachers saw my potential and encouraged me to work hard. This is the same in Sixth Form.” Bailey has settled well into Sixth Form and credits his fellow students for this, “the Sixth Form is full of hard-working, conscientious students that create a great self-study environment. Being surrounded by like-minded people encourages me to be disciplined with my studies.” Alongside the academic side to Sixth Form, Bailey also enjoys the extra-curricular activities such as being a newly recruited member ofour Student Union Team and also representing the Academy in both Football and Basketball. “All these activities have helped me to gain new friendships, and the basketball team have just become the Lancashire under 19’s champions!” Bailey hopes that his Sixth Form journey enables him to access a Russell Group university such as Manchester where he would like to study Mathematics.
