Thursday 30th April was the date that children would put their athletic abilities to the test in the Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley Quad kids’ competitions held at Hyndburn Athletics Club. The competitors took part in 4 events on the track and in the field, Long Jump, Vortex Howler Throw, 50m sprint and 400m run. Each athlete completed each event and their scores were added to a spreadsheet giving them a points score which was then added together to create a team score.

Ribble Valley schools were the first to compete in the morning session with 14 schools battling to become Ribble Valley champions 2015. The ability and passion shown by the young competitors were of a very high standard and the scores were a good reflection of that.  The final results were:

  1. St Leonards Langho
  2. Waddington & West Bradford
  3. Salesbury

Onto the Hyndburn competition in the afternoon slot, 11 schools competed to become Hyndburn champions 2015, again the ability was of a very high standard with just 10 points separating 1st and 3rd.

  1. St Charles – 1277
  2. Benjamin Hargreaves- 1272
  3. St Bartholomew’s – 1267

The event was a huge success with the expertise of  Hyndburn Athletics club who helped on the day of the event… we couldn’t run these types of events without them.  Also thank you to St Christopher’s high school who provided young leaders for the day who did all the scoring on each event.

Well done to all the schools involved.
