An unusually warm and sunny day saw the twelve Ribble Valley Schools come together to compete for the Ribble Valley Year 3&4 Football Crown. Teams were in three groups and all played each other in the group stages with the top eight teams qualifying for the quarter final knock out stages.

In the quarter finals Salesbury A beat St Marys Langho A 2 – 0, Pendle A beat St Michael and St Johns 1 – 0, Whalley beat Simonstone 1-0 and Salesbury B beat Pendle B 2-1.

In the semi-final Whalley beat Salesbury A and Pendle A beat Salesbury B to see Pendle A and Whalley meet in the final whilst Salesbury A and Salesbury B played off for third place. Exciting football was played by both teams but in the end it was Pendle A who clinched the title with a 1 – 0 win whilst Salesbury A were victorious in their match.

Thanks must go to St Augustine’s High School for hosting and providing referees and to Accrington Stanley Community Trust for supporting the event.
