Again, affected by the wet weather, soggy pitches at St Augustine’s meant that this event was moved to the new 3G pitches at Roefield Leisure. Fifteen teams took part in the event split into three groups with the top team and the best runner up qualifying for the knock out stages. St Mary’s Langho were the obvious winners of group C with four wins and a loss and Salesbury were the winners of group A with a similar score. Group B was a lot closer with both St Leonards A and St Marys Osbaldeston having two wins and two draws each. The results had to go down to goal difference which meant that St Marys Osbaldeston were group winners. Best runner up team went to Whalley A who had the highest goal difference of second place teams.
In the semi-finals Salesbury played St Marys Langho and Whalley A played St Marys Osbaldeston. Salesbury won outright but the second semi final went to a nail-biting penalty shootout which Whalley won by one goal. The third and fourth playoff saw St Marys Langho take bronze medals whilst the final again went to the dreaded penalties. In the end it was Salesbury that emerged victorious taking the gold medal and the accolade of Ribble Valley year 3&4 Champions. Thanks, must go to RVBC for sorting out the 3G for us at short notice, to Accrington Stanley Community Trust for helping run the event and to the Ribblesdale High School young referees.
