On Friday 5th October the Ribble Valley primary schools came along to St Augustine’s football pitches to take part in the Year 5/6 football competition. Leaders & referees from St Augustine’s helped the event run smoothly, refereeing all the games. Lee Walsh from Accrington Stanley came along to support the event and give his expertise when the tense situation of penalties had to take place. BIG thank you to these for all the help at the event!

The teams were placed in 3 group and then 8 teams progressed on to the quarter-finals. The schools that won their group were ST Marys Langho winning all 3 games, Salesbury & St Leonards A team. The semi-final saw St Marys playing Edisford 0-0, Edisford then qualified for the Final in the very tense penalties. Salesbury played St Leonards A which resulted in a well-deserved win again from St Leonards A. These top 4 teams have been invited back to the finals day on the 12th December to compete to represent Accrington Stanley in the kid’s cup.

The final finishing position and the overall winning team was St Leonards A team and they also qualified for the Lancashire Finals to the Danone Cup on 25th January 2019.
