On 10th February, we set off early to The University of Sheffield as the next phase of our TeachFirst Futures programme. Having gone through the selection and induction process at The University of Manchester before Christmas, this visit was another good opportunity to visit a Russell Group university, with the #1 Students’ Union in the country!
With seminars on selecting universities, how to structure personal statements, making competitive applications and student finance, we were really well informed at this early stage in our university planning journeys. The campus tour showed us some amazing facilities, including the new £80 million Diamond Building for Engineering.
All 7 of us (and Mr Whitaker) found the visit useful and educational, especially hearing from current students. We are very grateful to Claire and the team at TeachFirst for giving us these opportunities.

I am very interested in studying Law at university and with Sheffield being a top UK university, it was good to see what’s on offer. The bars and restaurants look amazing!
