Our Results

Since becoming an Academy the GCSE performance has continued to rise in a range of different indicators. In 2013-14, the Academy was acknowledged as one of the top 20% of schools across the country for progress over the last 3 years.  In 2014 a range of different ways of looking at results mean that it is hard to compare an exact picture to previous years. We are pleased that in spite of the changes the Academy saw some excellent individual results in relation to headline figures achieving our third best results ever.

GCSE Results

We are extremely proud of our focus on the whole child and the fact that young people at Accrington Academy are well rounded individuals who are given the opportunity to be the best they can be in whatever area or subject they have an aptitude for. It is critical to us that the final results students achieve allow them to take the next steps in education or employment.

A full picture of the final GCSE results can be found in the new ‘alternative’ league tables identified below. These league tables indicate the ‘actual’ position of students leaving a school as opposed to the new government tables, which indicate results on the first time a student attempted an exam.
This year the final position of students saw 48% of our Year 11 achieve A*-C grades in both English and Maths, with progress in English at 77% and progress in Maths at 54%. One student achieved an amazing 7 x A* grades, 3 x A grades and 2 x C grades. Another student achieved an amazing 6 A* grades, 4A grades and 2B grades. A further 12 students achieved at least 5A* – A grades.
