The Hyndburn High 5 netball tournament saw a record turnout this year with 20 teams competing to win the right to represent the borough in the level three school games. Teams were split into four groups of five and they all played each other in their groups. The winning team from each group went into the semi-finals.
The event was extremely fast paced and the energy levels were high throughout. In the end it was St Bartholomew’s who played Mount Pleasant in one semi-final and St Marys Oswaldtwistle who played Sacred Heart in the other. Mount Pleasant and St Marys Oswaldtwistle were victorious in both of these matches and met in a tense final. The final was end to end and could have gone either way but in the end it was Mount Pleasant who were victorious beating last year’s winners St Marys Oswaltwistle by 4 goals to 3. Sacred Heart took third place.
Thanks must go to the umpires from St Christopher’s High School who did an excellent job officiating the matches and keeping the tournament to time.
