Accrington Academy staged a dress down day on Friday (10th February) – the latest venture to help raise funds for charity and a student expedition to Iceland.
Working with World Challenge, a group of 10 intrepid Sixth Formers will be heading north in June, having spent the last 18 months collecting the money to fund the trip, with activities including cake bakes, sponsored walks, bag packs and a colour run.
Half of the funds raised will also go to the academy’s chosen charity, the British Heart Foundation.
Commented Accrington Academy’s Head of Sixth Form Ben Whitaker:
“The trip to Iceland itself will be a fantastic experience for those taking part and will open their eyes to new cultures and experiences, such as the incredible landscape, including the Northern Lights. As they have had to fund the trip themselves, raising funds for charity at the same time, it has also helped make them more financially aware and considerate of others.”
