This ran to a slightly different format this year. Each district had their own event with an overall winner but the top four teams from each competition were invited back to a football finals day at Accrington Academy to decide the team that would represent Accrington Stanley in the next round of the cup.
In the Hyndburn event, St Bartholemews, St Marys Oswaldtwistle, Huncoat and St Peter and Pauls were the four qualifying teams with St Barts winning on the day.
The Ribble Valley event saw torrential rain and lots of mud at St Augustine’s High School but the enthusiasm of those taking part was not dampened. The four schools that progressed were St Marys Langho, St Michael and St Johns, Pendle and Salesbury with St Marys Langho taking the days honours for the Ribble Valley.
The finals day, which was organised by Accrington Stanley was a huge success and saw some exciting football played by all teams. In the end it was St Marys Langho who proved too strong for the other teams and were undefeated throughout the event. They will represent Accrington Stanley in the next round of the cup.
