On the 17th April 2018 we organised our first Duathlon Event for the local secondary schools at Wilsons Playing Fields. Schools could enter teams from years 7/8 and 9/10, 8 teams entered the event from 3 different High Schools. The individual race consisted of a 1600m Run, 2800m cycle and an 800m run. This proved to be a long and tiring challenge for the athletes, however they all demonstrated great resilience and strength to complete the race! The second race was a team relay with distances of an 800m run, 2400m cycle and a 400m run, each of the 4 athletes completing all the distances. By this point the athletes were wet and cold and powered through with excellent determination. Fantastic efforts from all that took part with smiles on their face!!
Well done to St Christopher’s years 7/8 & 9/10 for qualifying as the Hyndburn Champions and St Augustine’s A team years 7/8 & 9/10 for qualifying as the Ribble Valley Champions. All teams will represent their district in the county finals.
