Accrington Academy students wow at Ribble Valley Jazz Festival
They were dancing in the aisles (and everywhere else!) when Accrington Academy’s jazz band made an appearance at last week’s Ribble Valley Jazz Festival.
Held at Holmes Mill, Clitheroe and the surrounding villages, the annual event was attended by more than 6,000 music lovers, with the academy’s junior jazz musicians joining 450 other performers for the five day festival.
It was also the third year running that the Academy had been invited to perform at the event, with the young entertainers including Isabella, who did a vocal solo, Elliot who performed a drum solo, vocalist Carla who also performed solo vocal solo, saxophonist Robert, drummer Taylor, Sam on bass guitar, guitarist Elle and pianists Keaton and Kiera.
It’s a real credit to our students that the band have been asked for three consecutive years to perform at such a popular event as the Ribble Valley Jazz Festival. It’s also a great example of the extra curricular activities available here at the academy, forming part of our commitment to provide our students with an ‘Education with Character’.
