Pastoral & Progression Information, Guidance and Advice

We pride ourselves in providing quality pastoral support to all our Sixth Form students. Our students know they have somewhere to turn in order to overcome whatever barrier they may face.

It can be as simple as having someone to talk to. Alternatively, we can access a number of supporting agencies if students have more complex needs. We ensure that all our students are able to fulfil their potential.

Voluntary Sector Counselling Consortium. The Families Health and Well Being Consortium are developing a collaborative approach to IAPT/Mental health and well being …

Many people experience common mental health problems at some point in their lives. Life changing events like the loss of a loved one, loss of employment, or even just everyday life stresses can lead to difficulties and you may need help and support. Common mental health problems are easily developed. Depression, anxiety, stress, panics, eating problems and loss of sleep make it difficult for us to cope with daily demands.

Healthy Minds is a service to help you when support is needed. We can work with you to help you examine how you are coping and develop your coping skills. All staff have received special training to offer support through a stepped model of integrated care.

In the nicest possible way, our job is to move you on! We want to give you every opportunity to find the right progression route for you when you complete your studies at Sixth Form. One of the best tools for helping with this (apart from our wonderful staff!) is Unifrog. Billed as The Complete Destinations Platform, it makes it easy for all students to find and apply for the best courses and apprenticeships for them. At Accrington Academy, our Progress Tutors use this as an information-gathering tool and then it helps to direct conversations onto the right route for you.

Whether you want to apply for a higher level apprenticeship, to a Russell Group university or other HE routes, this industry-leading tool helps with the full process: choosing universities, writing personal statements, developing competencies and obtaining references.

Although you have complete control over the options and process, what we love at Accrington Academy is the way that we as tutors can get an oversight and provide guidance or support. You will have the very best opportunity to apply and be successful in gaining places on the best pathways!
